Tiger Sanctuary
Planning for an Environmental Science Learning Center for De Paul University joined a University Learning Center, Student Housing, a Summer Camp, a Corporate Learning Center and day visitor's facilities including exhibition spaces, along with retail and restaurants... all surrounding a series of five tiger habitats. The project was to be located near Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. The Tiger Sanctuary was to suppliment the University's Environmental Science facilites in Chicago. Illuminating the idea that tigers are in fact canaries in a coal mine and that the severe challenges they face in the wild take measure of the broader threats to life on Earth, the Campus was to open new and important dialogs with the University Community and other constituencies while embarking on new kinds of intensive, adventurous, environmental education programs.
